Email marketers looking for that “killer” subject line to get consumers clicking on their message are being offered a new free service from climate conscious platform EcoSend, powered by ChatGPT.
The tool, designed to improve the efficiency and performance of email campaigns, requires the user to input just two prompts: their brand name and a short summary of their email. In seconds, the user is presented with an array of subject lines designed to give a campaign the best chance of being opened and engaged with.
While subject line generators have existed for years, the EcoSend tool takes a giant leap forward in giving suggestions backed by data from real, successful campaigns, combined with the creative, generative capabilities of GPT-3.5.
The tool has been built with anonymised training data from email campaigns that have achieved an open rate of more than 60%, leading to some commonalities, including punchier, action-oriented language and the inclusion of emojis where appropriate.
In early testing with key customers, the tool has already enabled campaigns to be created with higher email open rates while decreasing the amount of time that teams take to create engaging subject lines, meaning users can focus on other marketing priorities.
Data from Mike Berners-Lee’s latest edition of How Bad Are Bananas suggests that the longer it takes to write an email, the more carbon emissions are created. For example, an email that takes ten minutes to write and three seconds to read can create up to 17g of CO2e.
EcoSend co-founder James Gill said: “It takes a leap of faith to trust a computer to produce work that we know to be inherently creative. We developed the EcoSend Subject Line Generator to save marketers time, eradicate writer’s block, and produce subject lines that have the highest possible chance of leading to opens and clicks.
“Backed by proprietary data from thousands of successful campaigns, extensive marketing and copywriting expertise, and thoughtful usage of generative AI, we couldn’t be more excited to get the EcoSend Subject Line Generator in the hands of email marketers everywhere, for free.”
EcoSend is the first email marketing platform to make it its mission to reduce the growing impact email marketing has on the planet.
Officially launched in March by the team behind GoSquared, it is committed to tackling the climate crisis by reducing the weight of email campaigns sent through its platform, through optimised emails and advanced segmentation, creating more focused marketing campaigns.
In addition, EcoSend will automatically plant trees on behalf of each customer to offset the carbon emissions of every campaign.
