Well, dear Foxy fans, I am afraid this week I bring you sad news. No, I’m not quietly quitting or going to work for a rival trade rag. It’s way worse than that – our old friends at the Vagina Museum have been forced to close their curtains for the last time.
Yep, in line with our mantra of “you read it here last”, the Vault of the Vayjayjay’s doors have been shut tighter than a gnat’s chuff and the bar has been drier than a camel’s arse in a sandstorm since last month.
Having welcomed more than 40,000 visitors through its doors, and received so much love and positive feedback, in no small part due to the “hush-hush” work of McContent & Design (remember them?), the Vayjayjayers have demonstrated just how much the world needs and wants a Vagina Museum.
So, with Women’s History Month in full swing – not to mention this week’s International Women’s Day – I am putting my hand up and joining the campaign to rehome the Land of the Lady Garden.
And, with all those offices now half empty due to the rise of hybrid working, surely someone out there must have space for exhibitions like Muff Busters: Vagina Myths & How To Fight Them; Is Your Vagina Normal?; and Periods: A Brief History.
All they need is a London-based venue with good transport links of at least 1,500 square feet, a lease of a minimum two years, wheelchair access, toilets and a monthly rent of no more than £5,000.
Mind you, if you don’t have a building, you can still help. A donation of any size makes a huge difference and will help the Vayjayjayers to weather this storm, just as they have weathered many before, including a Covid shutdown.
You can also share a link to the site so that someone who can help may see it – this is especially important in the face of social media algorithms.
Ultimately, let’s not beat about the bush, the world will be a much poorer place without Foo Foo Towers, and maybe, just maybe, we could then crown March “Hug a Vagitarian Month”…
